mustard + midnight

Hello hello!

I feel like it’s been forever since we last chatted, when in fact, it’s been less than a week!  Things have been busy, as usual, especially as the semester winds down.  Life got really real on Tuesday when I picked up my cap, gown, tassel, and honor cords (for those of you wondering, I did it– I got summa cum laude!).  The tassel and honor cords clash, of course.  Oh well.  I’ll wear them for about 2 hours and never wear them again. (Not including the times I plan to wear them all around campus as a belt and headband…)

I also had a very exciting weekend.  Abby, one of my best friends who now lives in LA, came to visit.  I haven’t seen her in nearly a year and she was only here for the weekend, but we had so much fun.  We went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner (the dinner of champions) and went out after that.  The bars were pretty ratchet, hence why I hardly ever go out.  But it was all still fun, because I got to see her.  She also gifted me with some treasures from BCBG that she didn’t want or didn’t fit right.  Pretty legit, right?  I’ll take anyone’s BCBG rejects any day.  It was a great weekend.  Here’s a cute picture to commemorate it all.

Well, temperatures dipped down quite low again this week, so I naturally whipped out the sweater tights.  I can handle the cold, don’t get me wrong.  I’ve grown up in Midwest, I know what a winter feels like, and this isn’t it.  But on those days where it’s below 40° and there’s wind, well, that’s a game changer.  But, on one particularly odd, non-windy day, I decided to ditch my winter peacoat and go with one of my more under-rated jackets:  my midnight-blue, wool, swing coat.  Although it’s not the most practical due to its light lining and cropped sleeves, this coat holds a special place in my heart and closet since it’s one that I made as a junior in high school.  I just love how simple, yet feminine it looks and how it easily enhances an otherwise plain ensemble.  Since I like to play up my color in the cooler months of the year, I paired it with a mustard pencil skirt and matching scarf.  And since I can’t take myself too seriously, I took another stab at climbing that tree…

So I’m not sure when you’ll hear from me next– I’m at 98% blog storage space, so I have to soon make a decision on whether to buy more storage, take out my own domain, go premium, start trying to make money from it, or some combination.  If any of you experienced bloggers out there have any tips or advice on what would be my best bet, please comment or shoot me a message.

Until next time (but hopefully soon!!)–
